Fun Sites to Support ELA Learning

Fun Sites to Practice With...

Reading:
Many teachers at Three Fires use Accelerated Reader (AR) where students take online quizzes on books they have read from home or the library. One great feature of this program, is that students know what reading level books are and can adjust to make sure they are reading a "just right" book for them. If you are unsure of your child's reading level, contact their classroom teacher. All quizzes must be taken in school due to licensing terms, but families can use this site:  http://www.arbookfind.com/UserType.aspx  to find books at a given level. The goal is to continually grow as a reader!

Did you know that audio books give almost the same benefits to readers as traditional books?
Use these websites to have books read aloud!
(You do have to register for this site, but there is no fee.)

Writing:
Telling stories is something most elementary students love. With today's technology, there are so many ways for students to publish their pieces in print with appealing fonts, images, and more! Every student at Howell Public Schools has access to Google Docs which is similar to Microsoft Word. https://www.google.com/ There are also web-based sites such as Storybird that help students publish their pieces. https://storybird.com/accounts/login/

Spelling:
Here are a couple of sites that help make spelling practice a little more enjoyable!
